Hyaluronic acid , also called hyaluronan, is an anionic, nonsulfated glycosaminoglycan distributed widelythroughout connective, epithelial, and neural tissues.It is unique among glycosaminoglycans in that it isnonsulfated, forms in the plasma membrane insteadof the Golgi apparatus, and can be very large, with itsmolecular weight often reaching the millions.
